it's a new compositional epic from trey. remember when that was the problem? he wasn't writing that way anymore?
now, what do you do when he gets up there and plays it? you sit down until the next song starts and check facebook on your blackberry.
meanwhile, the generic, grateful dead-influenced blues rock tunes that hardly distinguish themselves at all-- you LOVE that shit.

There is nothing epic about TTE. The composed sections are lifeless. To hear TTE and YEM in the same set really allowed one to see how far trey's compositional writing has fallen

Time Turns Elastic is so far BEYOND I think you are missing the point.
It's got tension, release, composition, transition, lyrics, skills, music, whatever you want...
Have you seen Phish OP?

TTE is the new everything I ever wanted and hoped for musically!
unbelievable composition, it reflects so much as to what the band has been through...
basically not having the patience or intelligence to listen to and love it is like not even being a fan
It's probably the best song Trey has ever written.. well at least I know it is my favorite one to listen to right now
seriously, it makes YEM or DVD SKy look like n00bie shit

buddy i've been seeing them since the 90's and that my friend is a craptastic set killer of a song. sure it has all those things you list. but it doesn't make it good. 60% of the sections are lackluster, the segues are rigid and choppy and there is too damn much of trey singing.
Time Turns Craptastic'd
and i am so happy they got it out of the way the night before albany.

I think TTE and all of Joy speaks volumes to how things are now.
Sorry if you think it sucks.
I love it and it brings me so much happiness.

I like TTE, and it is a great composition. I hope trey shelves it so he can make it more special but it's one of those songs they need to play and practice to see what it evolves into.
I liked the Cincy version A LOT, but I've heard it a lot this year.
I hope they shorten it up, rock it out harder, and actually cut some words out... that would make it amazing to me... a 10 minute version is better than a 15 minutes version IMO

It's like Fluffhead.. it's one of those songs that they have to keep in a practiced conditioned to be able to play, and if it's in a practiced state, why not play it?
Plus I'll take it over a Fluffhead any day of the week.

It was played very well last night. Mike and Fish seem to be getting really comfortable with it, and Kuroda was having a lot of fun with it last night. however, it would be nice if they stopped playing it. the lyrics sink this song like a submarine with screen doors!

To me it's like What's the Use. I enjoy the studio version from time to time, and I have no need to hear it at a show because it won't be as good as the original. Come to think of it, put Sugar Shack on that list too.

I'm asking for TTE.. where's my TTE?
Seriously.. probably the best song Trey has ever written.
It takes into account his situation, the situation, and just pretty much life.. I love it.. I will buy every piece of merch even remotely related that that awesome piece of unheralded masterpiece.. FUCK YEAH!
That shit rocks!

Sorry Iluvtela... I heard (powerful) I Saw It Again at Hampton 1-4-03, but I agree with you that I would love to hear that song again.
But Tela is awesome too, and so is TTE.

GREAT CALL Tour Hero, i have thought about that many times in the last few months. For the longest time, everyone on here was complaining that Trey was only writing stuff like "Shine" and no compositions.
Then he writes TTE and the band releases it as the freaking single and all people do is bitch about it. Just further proving the point that Trey, and the entire band for that matter, can't make the trolls on this site happy. Most of the "phans" on here really don't know what they want in the first place.
For the record, I really like TTE on the album, at live shows I am indifferent. I don't love it, but I certainly don't hate it.

Seen it 6 times and think it is far and away the best song of the new crop. Not even close.
Way better than the tired boring blues-wank of Ocelot.
