Uh oh. Drunken shine posting. This will be good. My Thanksgiving ROCKED. We has SO much food. It was more than I have ever seen and it actually felt like family even though we had to work. My worst Thanksgiving was in 1998. I was working for a newspaper in NC and only had Thanksgiving Day off. I had to work until 9:00 pm the day before and the day after I had to work at 8:00 am. Not enough time to travel to VA for Thanksgiving, so I spent it alone watching old movies, drinking cheap wine and eating junk food. Actually, now that I think about it, it was kind of nice. :) I'm in the middle of baking a pumpkin strudel cake. It smells sooo good. |

I used to always boycott Thanksgiving w/my own family because it was always such a pain in the ass pleasing divorced parents. I used to have to be in Virginia Beach in the afternoon and Poquoson in the evening. Now that I'm an adult, I still boycott theirs and have my own. :) |

See, that is where being Jewish is good. Thanksgiving with my family and Christmas with his. Well, hopefully it can go that way. We both worked yesterday and are off for Christmas, so we're going to his sister's for Christmas and my mom may have a Chanukah dinner earlier in the month too. I wouldn't know what to do if I had to eat 2 T-giving meals in 1 day. I'd pop! |

Ugh. I still don't know what to do about our neighbor. The more I think about it, the more it pisses me off since she says we are loud at night, yet she can be during "normal hours" I just want all of us to get along! Hey fools (stolen from PG, love it), gotta question for y'all: So, while we were in the dirty Jerz, I went out to dinner with my brother and some of his AA buddies (I know, can you believe it? I didn't drink in front of them, don't worry) and we went for sushi. GREAT food, as seafood in Jersey is fresher and more abundant than RVA. Well, the best part was that Thadd, who planned on getting some terriyake or tempura, ate TONS of sushi and loved it. This is great for me, as I have always liked sushi and haven't eaten it much here bc Thadd had always been so against it. So now that he loves it, we need RVA sushi restaurant recommendations. SO READY. I am asking about sushi, but believe me, we aren't going for a while. I am on all veggies today bc it tastes so good and feels great for some reason (maybe 7 days of eating like shit will make that happen, you know?), I have popped 7 times so far today (woke up at 8:30am), and I have already had 100 ounces of H2O. I AM drinking some beer today, mostly bc it is here and I would NEVER let beer go to waste ;) , but as of tomorrow, my diet for the next 6 days (the only change that will be made is that Saturday - day 7 - I will have red wine with football as opposed to beer; I will not have any additional food, and I plan on doing 2.5 hours of cardio that day bc of the wine calories) is as follows, no modifications: Food: raw and steamed GREEN veggies plain grilled chicken tuna fish beans (chickpeas and cannellini beans) egg whites mixed with veggies and low fat ham at LEAST 150 ounces of H2O a day black coffee with splenda Exercise: at LEAST 90 minutes of cardio a day General: 4-6 small meals a day, comprised of the above, no food after 7pm. Can I tell you all something funny? While at home, my recovering drunk/cokehead homo brother kept repeating his new "catchphrase" throughout the weekend. Apparently, he got it off of a ridiculous reality TV show with some drunk girl that was on it, and he likes to repeat the catchphrase at totally inappropriate times. The catchphrase is "Don't threaten ME with a good time!" He would say this when asked to pass the turkey, whether or not the dog pooped, or what his plans were for the evening. oh shit the Inn is so creepy. I just drove by there today when I paid my taxes in Little Washington which is my county seat. It is like an oasis of extreme opulence. You will see full on black and white clad maids, etc. THe waiters there make like 60K. |

yeah it is a good bluegrass festival. But it is the kind of thing where thousands of people show up days in advance and set up their lawn chairs in all the best spots. In other words just sitting and watching, absolutely no hippies dancing. ANd no open partying. |

Husband is willing to commute to RVA from Charlottesville. We just have to wait until the kids get a little older. I like the fact that he can be home in 10 minutes now. Once they are in school though, I think we're out. He's also interested in getting his Ph.D. soon; UVA would be awesome. |

yes I like that Etowah too. The only weird thing I noticed is how in order to get out to the back deck you have to walk through that pantry and laundry room. Seems awkward. I like that upstairs and general layout though. It doesn't appear to have a fireplace / chimney though which won't work for us. |

I just posted this in another thread but will run it by you guys also just found a GREAT property that went on the market this week... it is 1.8 acres in Harmony Hollow, Front Royal, VA. THe property adjoins the 4-H center (which has a nice public pool), and it is walking distance to the Appalachian Trail, and another trail in Shenandoah National Park called Hickerson Hollow. This is such a nice area that we go to all the time to go hiking and swimming... it is also near 2 other big federal properties (Smithsonian Zoo research center, and the US Customs Canine training Center) and it is zoned agricultural, very rural, so no risk of massive development. The only thing is we were trying to find something closer to Winchester where Tracy works, but living in such a spectacular spot would probably make it worth it to her. |

alright yall, i seriously need to move out...before work this morning, i got mad at my parents and punched a hole in the wall which i know have to re-sheet rock, spackle, and paint. i love the hell outta my parents, but i seriously am starting to hate it there and its taking a toll on me big time. like this past sunday, i was just relaxing, watching football on the couch, and they started harping on me for NO REASON. i found out later that it was because my little 19 year old sister (who was home from school for thanksgiving) spent the night at her boyfriends and had already left to go back to school, so they took their frustration out on me. suz, i know you said your landlord works in my building upstairs from my office...how much do his places run per month? |

Rob. First of all, don't punch holes in walls. secondly, my sister is going through this same thing right now. She just cannot win with my parents, and frankly, 4 adults in my house plus a dog and a cat are just not working out for them all up in Jersey. I really think you would be happier if you got out of their house, and then they would appreciate you more. You said you already pay about $600 in expenses as a payment to your parents for food and rent? It wouldn't be that much more to live elsewhere, but you would probably have to curb your going out sppending. Continue to look on CL to see if a cool roomate situation pops up. I'll look too. |
